ALBERT COUNTY FOOD BANK

Providing food related assistance for those in need

About

ABOUT US

The Albert County Food Bank works to address hunger in the community by providing food and related assistance to those with food insecurity. The Albert County Food Bank has been operating since the late 1970’s.

It operates under the Albert County Action Committee Inc. (ACAC) Board of Directors.

In 1987 the Albert County Action Committee Inc. became a non-profit registered charity serving Albert County under the direction of a Board of Directors, with representatives from local churches. The Food Bank accepts clients from Hillsborough, Riverview and all areas in between from the Albert Mines Road to the Milton Road.

Our dedicated team of volunteers and contractors are members of our community who serve our clients with dignity, respect and confidentiality

Volunteers Packing Food

Volunteer

Did you know that your Food Bank is primarily operated by volunteers? We are continually looking for volunteers for duties such as sorting and organizing food and grocery related items; or even serving food packages to those with food insecurities.

To be a volunteer at the Food Bank, is an extremely rewarding feeling and is also a great way to give back.

Other volunteers may be interested in becoming a member of the executive committee on the Food Bank.

Volunteer to help a friend or person in your community. Do you know someone whose cupboard is running empty? Please encourage them to contact us or offer them a ride to the Food Bank to pick up their boxes.

We cannot do this without the help of others in the community. If you are interested in making a real difference in your community, then contact us at your earliest convenience.

Grocery

Donate

The Food Bank requires donations of food, grocery items and monies. As you can imagine, this is not easy without the help and support of people like you making donations of time, money or food items.

The local churches have food bank hampers which can be a way for you to donate on behalf of yourself and your church. Food hampers are also located throughout the community at Superstore and Sobeys in Riverview for your convenience to donate food items.

Please consider making a donation to the Food Bank. While we appreciate donations of food, a monetary donation can help us even more as we can purchase items that are requested by the families we serve.
